Making Recovery Easier

Making Recovery Easier is an interactive workshop designed to help people who have experienced problems as a result of drugs and alcohol to find, maintain, and enhance their recovery through peer support, sober recreation, and educational opportunities.

This Workshop:

  • Is a continously running program
  • Can be started at any time and the sessions can be completed in any order.
  • Is facilitated by people with personal experience in 12-step recovery.
  • Addresses myths about AA, NA, CA, and recovery in general.
  • Provides a supportive environment for you to share both positive and negative experiences with recovery and 12-step programs.
  • Is safe and confidential; whatever is said here stays here!
  • Helps you to develop your personal path to recovery.

Making Recovery Easier Workshops are especially hlpeful new to the recovery process, or who have had some experience with 12-step groups but have had difficulty with the recovery process.

The primary objective of Making Recovery Easier is to show people what to expect at a 12-step meeting. Participants will learn about what happens in meetings, make new friends, and discover that recovery can be fun. People who have friends in recovery are less likely to struggle with their recovery.

Workshop Topics Include:

Living Sober – Introduces tools to stay clean and sober, triggers to avoid, and the benefits of connecting with other people in recovery.

Spirituality – Provides a wide range of definitions that do not require a religious orientation or God-belief system.

Principles not Personalities (Attitudes) – Discuss the types and formats of 12-step meetings, and explores myths and personal experiences.

Sponsorship – Explains the purpose and functions of a 12-step sponsor, and offers guidelines for picking an appropriate person.

Certificate of Completion:

Complete all six sessions and receive a Certificate of Completion. Certificates can help you show others (family, judges, probation and parole officers, DCF, etc.) that you are committed to your recovery.

Making Recovery Easier is an Evidence-Based Practice. Research has shown that attendees completing all six sessions have demonstrated a higher rate of abstinence. However, positive benefits have been shown with attendees attending as few as one or two sessions as well.
